LoneStar Quilt
I did this quilt for my best friend, to match the warm windows I made for her for Christmas.
Started ___
Here are the roman shades I made for her. It's hard to see the colors in this picture.
Cecile has an illustrator file where she grouped all the pieces of the same color, so all she had to do was click and change the color to see what my quilt would look like. So useful!
Cecile is so wonderful! She did all the math for me!
She even wrote down directions for me!
So, first we cut our fabric into strips.
Then sew the right strips together, staggered so we don't waste fabric, cuz we are going to be cutting them at an angle.
Here are Cecile's strips.
and mine.
See how they make diamonds now? Isn't that cool?
If you press your seams the right way, they all lock into place nicely. Unfortunatly, I never figured out how to get it to happen on every piece...
Now we sew the strips together to make a block.
And sew the blocks together.
We already have half the star!
Well, after we add that white square. I used a lacey white with lavender under it to give those big white expanses some texture.
And now we have the star!
Then we make the blocks that go along the outside.
And I put them together in this order.
And there's the block.
So then you add it to the star...
... like so.
Lather, rinse, repeat, add the 4 corners and you are done with the top!
And here is a horrible picture of the finished product. I did stitch-in-the-ditch quilting on this one. Finished ___
