Projects: The House
So, the big project here is painting the house. Wow, what a pain.
7/4/06
Here is what our house looked like when we bought it.
The front of the house.
The back of the house, with something really cute as a bonus! Also has a cat.
8/6/07 ~ The Washing
So we borrowed a powerwasher over the weekend, but we couldn't get any power out of it. So we spent all weekend "washing" the house and getting soaked. Then we borrowed a different powerwasher on Monday evening and got the whole house done in a couple hours! And we stayed pretty dry. :)
Here is Nick washing the second floor.
He seems to be having a good time. :)
Sukie is taking his turn with the power tool.
8/12/07 ~ The Painting
So after the washing we spent the rest of the week scraping the trim. Friday night we finally picked a color and bought 6 gallons of blue paint. Saturday we spent the day figuring out how to use the high-volume-low-pressure paint sprayer we bought. We used the garage as our test subject. Got the whole thing done and the top-back of the house. Sunday went a lot faster, now that we had figured out how to do this. We got the entire front, west side and lower back done. Plus we had some friends come over and paint the trim on the garage and some storm windows.
Here is a sample of the scraped trim, and a cat.
Here it's Sunday afternoon and we are getting the storm windows out for Lani and Rob to paint.
And they paint.
And so, here is the front of our new, blue Zinthos. I mean, house.
And the front of the east side.
And the east back. All that is left.
And a nice shot of the garage - it's blue, so it goes with everything.
At the end of the day, Nick and I are exahusted. And blue.
But we still have enough energy (after dinner) to take Blue Garage Band pictures.
Our house is blue...
And now for something completely different!
No, not really. This is the inside of our house as of sometime in July '07. I took the pictures in the morning, so we have all this nice sunlight streaming into the dining room. ^_^
I got that Barrister bookcase for free! Its so cool! Each shelf is a stackable unit so you can make it as tall or as short as you like! We only got 2 units though, plus a top and a base. But it fits nicely under that window...
Like how my artwork is falling off the walls? *sigh*
This is one of our dining room fixtures, Sukie.
Now moving into the living room...
Look at all those books!
Here are the stairs at which you were just looking.
Betcha don't know what these are!
And here is the sunporch, on the north side of the house (front), right next to those stairs you were about to ascend.
And the other side of the sunporch (Nick is telecommuting today, so forgive him for being on the computer on such a nice day).
Here is a shot from the front of the house (sunporch) to the back (kitchen).
And the kitchen.
This door leads into the Bright Room, which most people call 'Outside'.
